What about if we have a food intolerance, can we still consume these delicious treats? Hmmm, let’s wait and see. In the meantime, you should definitely check out our blog below to see how you can make a low-fat dessert which is so tasty but also can be part of your healthy diet! See if you can guess what we are making before we get to the bottom!

Starting from the top

The first thing to do is make sure you have all of the ingredients before you start baking otherwise you will find yourself in a bit of a situation. So, rifle through those cupboards and make sure you have the essentials, including plain flour, baking powder (obv!) and dark brown soft sugar. Unless you have an egg intolerance, eggs are found in almost everybody’s kitchen but you should still make sure you have them after confirming you do not have an intolerance to eggs.

The actual ingredients

If you haven’t guessed already what we are making, then you probably realise we need more ingredients. You would be correct, but they all contribute towards a healthy diet. So in order to succeed in making this luscious dessert, you need a measuring bowl and the following items: 125g of plain flour; baking powder; a pinch of salt and 150g of dark brown soft sugar! Adding three beaten eggs into the mix, as well as some vanilla extract, you are well on your way to making one of the most delicious treats! With 200g of chopped pecans and 350g of chopped dates, you cannot go wrong!

Lots of methods in a healthy diet

Having put all the ingredients together, you can preheat the oven to Gas Mark 3 and then flour a 20x30cm tin. Mixing it up and sifting together the flour, baking powder and salt you can then set it aside. Once you have the large bowl, you can then mix together sugar and eggs, before stirring in the flour mixture. From there, you can stir the vanilla, pecans and dates – yummy!

Finally, bake in an oven for 35 minutes, and from here, you will be able to consume your very own Pecan Squares as part of your healthy diet! If you guessed it well done! If not, don’t worry!
