Flu prevention - Test Your Intolerance

To help you today, here are some natural ways to prevent the flu, none of which include an injection with a needle of any sort.

Have a cup of hot water with lemon each morning before you have anything else. This is a great way of giving your body a shot of Vitamin C before anything else has the chance to get in there. Drink herbal teas. Echinacea has long been known to prevent colds and flu.

Avoid refined sugars and processed foods. The body has to expend a lot of energy trying to digest these and this is energy it could use to fight off the cold and flu viruses that are out there. Also, there is no nutritional value to processed foods – remember to always read your labels. Salt, fat and sugar normally rate highly in any processed foods.

The key to great health is good nutrition:

Get yourself a green, health-filled juice at least once a day – breakfast would be the best time of day to do this to assist your hot water and lemon do its job. Your body will still be in cleansing mode so by having your juice for breakfast you are extending its cleansing process until lunchtime.

Make a pot of something hot and homely – soups or stews using good fresh ingredients. Add Garlic to them because garlic is well documented as having great anti viral and antibacterial properties. If you want to increase the benefits of the garlic, chop it and leave it to sit for a while – this helps the alliinase enzymes (mother nature’s insecticides) to work better once you use it in your soups or stews.

Eat foods high in Vitamin C – Bok Choy, Kale, Bell peppers, Squash, Turnips, Lemon, Parsnip, Sweet Potato, Broccoli, Cabbage, Onion, Cauliflower, Celery, Tomato, Beetroot and Avocado. This is just a short list of foods that contain vitamin C but it’s a start.

Eat foods high in Zinc – Mushrooms, Beetroot, Dates, Almonds, Beans, Pumpkin seeds, Swiss Chard, Tahini, Rocket, Chick peas, Broccoli, Asparagus, Cauliflower, Oats, Pumpkin, Spinach, Lentils, Kale, Carrots and Avocado.

Summer is on it’s way everyone!
